“Crouchy” was born in Macclesfield, England. He didn’t spend much of his early months in the market town of Macclesfield as his family relocated to Singapore for a while before coming back to England. After his primary education, he began playing with Northolt Hotspurs till he got invited to Brentford Centre of Excellence. At the age of 10, Peter became a ball boy at the famous Stamford bridge although he was very much a Fan of the Queens Park Rangers.
Crouchy joined Queens Park Rangers in his early days but not for long because he got an offer from Tottenham in 1998 after playing for the youth team. A contract with Tottenham marked his start of professional football albeit not making an appearance in the first team till he was loaned to other clubs. Over the years, the Ex spurs man went on to play in the first team of several top-flight clubs across England.
In 1999 Crouch participated in the FIFA youth championship and later he was included in the English under 21 team which made the finals of the European Under-21 Championship in Switzerland.
His sojourn in world football took him to a series of clubs. His first major signing deal came when Portsmouth bought him from QPR for £1.5 million after scoring 10 goals for the team. He made significant improvement in Portsmouth where scored 18 goals in 37 league appearances. From Portsmouth, he moved to Aston Villa, then Southampton, until he eventually hit the spotlight when signed for Liverpool for a personal record transfer fee of £7 million.
The first few months in Liverpool was a poor start for the tall striker but he eventually overcame goal drought and contributed to the team’s success in an FA cup win. Crouch scored over 20 goals for the team before signing a deal to move back to Portsmouth in 2008.
In 2009 he signed for Tottenham where he initially started professional football. He was rumored to be earning about £3.6 million annually in Tottenham. He later moved to Stoke City, then to Burnley where he retired from professional football.
Crouchy holds the record for most headed goals in the English Premier League, and his robotic dance celebration is a cherished memory. Now, he hosts a podcast for BBC and works as a Director of Dulwich Hamlet as of 2021.
Married to Abbey Clancy in 2011, Crouch is the father of two daughters( Sophia Ruby & Liberty Rose) and two sons (Johnny & Jack).
In the Summer of 2012, he lost the License to drive for 6 months after an overspeeding offense.
Crouch has two books to his name. ‘Walking Tall – My Story” was released in 2007 and another “How to be a Footballer” was released in 2018. His podcast series with Tom Fordyce and Chris Stark are a few of his recent works.
