Benise was born in Nebraska on January 12, 1965. He grew up in a small from in the west of Grand Island, Nebraska. He started playing the guitar at age eleven and when he became a teenager, he joined local bands.
His parents thought that he would be interested in becoming a businessman but he decided to pursue a music career so he moved to Southern California.
He worked part-time during the day and went on gigs at night with his band. According to him, his idols are Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix.
Benise heard a Spanish guitar on the radio while driving and he realized something. So when he went to get a nylon string guitar and started relearning the instrument. He then decided to retire from his electric guitar and focus on the nylon string guitar exclusively.
Roni Benise started performing on the streets, in neighborhood theaters, and in flea markets. His style is combining music such as flamenco, salsa, tango, and samba with rock music to create a sound that appeals to music fans and enthusiasts of world music.
