Suzanne was born to Ione Guinevere Campbell and Mr. Ahrens in Los Angeles, California on January 27, 1918. She had two brothers named Frank and Robert. Her parents got separated and she had to go to her grandmother in Los Angeles with her mother with brothers. Her elder brother Frank married a man named Guy Ridgway and they also adopted a child.
She got her early education in Los Angeles. However, she had to start working before even completing her education. She worked as an actress at a very young age of 15. She had to go alone to work in Hollywood while leaving her family back in Los Angeles.
Suzanne started working as an extra in various films. Her acting career wasn’t glamourous at all as she didn’t even get a chance for improvement for so many years in the start. She got the attention of the directors and the public just because of her beautiful features and appearance.
She was mostly cast in the roles of Mexican or Spanish girls due to which she faced difficulty in delivering dialogues.
